British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT), SANYO S.M.I., PCS Security and Facility Services Limited (PCS) partnership with C.P. LAND (Public) Co., Ltd. or CP LAND, one of the leading real estate developers in Thailand in private sectors:), together with businesses within the CP LAND Group: CP Facility Management Co., Ltd. (CPFM), Grand Fortune Nakhon Si Thammarat, and CP Tower Nakhon Si Thammarat kicked off the ‘Solar Cell for Life: Happiness Is All Around’ delivering 80 tonnes of innovative, solar-powered light poles covering 5 kilometres and valued at more than 1.5 million baht to the community of Khiri Wong in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. This is considered to be a model project according to the guidelines of Social Contribution under CP LAND’s basic philosophy of ‘Accessible Communities for Life’ and the want to deliver happiness to remote communities ‘No matter where we live, happiness makes our homes bright.’
Mr Suttipong Maliong, Managing Director of Sanyo S.M.I. (Thailand) said, ‘SANYO S.M.I. is very honoured to be a part of the “Solar Cell for Life: Happiness Is All Around” project that has taken place in the community of Khiri Wong, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. We are extremely proud to have participated. Although the location is far away, happiness is a light that can be shared with everyone. I’d like to thank CP LAND for their determination and promotion through commercials to shed light on how solar power is so important to our daily lives.’
Mr Ibrahim Kocagöz, the Director of Engineering Solutions for PCS Security and Facility Services Limited (PCS) stated, ‘PCS is very proud to be a part of the “Solar Cell for Life: Happiness Is All Around” project, which means a lot to this community and helps to contribute to the development of infrastructure in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat, including educating the community on how to take care and maintain an electrical system with the latest technology by themselves. Furthermore, the project is also in line with PCS’s sustainability strategy to achieve the target of a global net zero carbon by year 2040 using renewable energy and the latest technology in order to reduce energy consumption and limitations in the care and maintenance of various systems. Thank you, CP LAND, for initiating such a good project.’
CP LAND Executive, Mr Chakraphant Piyaprucksapan, the Executive Vice President of C.P. Land (Public) Co., Ltd. or CP LAND and Managing Director of C.P. Facility Management Co., Ltd. (CPFM) has revealed that CP LAND is committed to conducting business under their Social Contribution efforts and sustainability along with creating value for all stakeholders including customers, residents, business partners and nearby communities and society using their knowledge, expertise, and experience in real estate. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for sustainability in society according to CP LAND’s basic philosophy known as Accessible Communities for Life. CP LAND, therefore, initiated the project ‘Solar Cell for Life: Happiness Is All Around’ which delivers light from clean, environmentally friendly energy and creates safety for those far away communities where electricity does not reach as easily. In cooperation with our partners in the private sector, we were able to deliver 80 tonnes of innovative, solar-powered light poles covering more than 5 kilometres and valued at more than 1.5 million baht to the village of Khiri Wong in the Kamlone Subdistrict, Lan Saka District of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
The ’Solar Cell for Life: Happiness Is All Around’ project has brought the use of solar energy for maximum benefit. The system was designed by a team of expert engineers from the Department of Safety Engineers by using solar-powered streetlights, or Solar Street Light, which are of good quality, small in size, lightweight, and easy to install and maintain. The installation was carried out by CP LAND’s southern operations team together with the people of Ban Khiri Wong Village and partners. This project is considered the first of its kind for CP LAND’s Social Contribution before further study to branch out in developing other areas. CP LAND is open to creating partnerships with those who wish to expand the implementation of this project to other areas of Thailand.
CP LAND is very proud that the ‘Solar Cell for Life: Happiness Is All Around’ project has commenced due in part to the commercial, ‘Happiness Is All Around Us’ starring Singto Numchok, a famous singer, who helped post it across all of his social media platforms at the end of 2022. The commercial shows Mr Singto installing and turning on the solar-powered light pole to provide light for those in the community driving in the dark and says, ‘No matter where we live, happiness makes our homes bright.’ ‘The realization of CP LAND’s commercial has now become a reality in the Village of Khiri Wong in the Kamlone Subdistrict, Lan Saka District of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province’, commented Mr Chakraphant.
Mr Lurpong Galanyuta, Senior Vice President of the Administration and Operations Group for CP LAND’s Southern Region stated that, ‘from CP LAND’s team survey we have discovered that villages in Khiri Wong such as Villages 9 and 10 have paths going up and down the mountain, but that it is quite dark and there is not enough electricity, which affects the safety of the people in the community. On the other hand, the aforementioned route is also a conveyor for fruits such as durian, rambutan, and mangosteen; local agricultural products that are then sold elsewhere in various areas. The village of Khiri Wong is also an important tourist attraction and has become known as the “Village with the best weather in all of Thailand” and is located among mountains surrounded by forests and rivers. It is a beautiful scenery worth keeping. Because of this, CP LAND and its partners in the private sector saw the importance of installing solar-powered light poles within the community to create light from clean, environmentally friendly energy and thus creating safety for those in the community while increasing the potential of tourism as well’.
‘From statistics obtained by the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat, we have learned that Nakhon Si Thammarat is considered a tourist attraction amongst Thais who have made it the number two most visited “secondary city”, after Chantaburi and the number one “secondary city” visited in the southern region, including being number eight on Bangkokians’ must visit provinces with Khiri Wong Village being at the top of destinations. Khiri Wong Village sees an average of 400-500 people during normal days and double this number on the weekends with an average of around 800-900 people. The fact that CP LAND and its partners have come to install 80 tonnes of solar-powered light poles covering 5 kilometres has helped to increase the potential of tourism in the area, creating opportunities for the community of Khiri Wong to be able to travel comfortably and safely, especially at night and potentially increasing night-time tourism and overall revenue for the people of Nakhon Si Thammarat, thus creating a better quality of life for those in the community’, added Mr Lurpong.
